In the spring of 2025, I took a Documentary Film course at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I was originally interested in this course because I love filmmaking. For my first big group project in this course, we made a mini-documentary talking about anything we wanted. My group decided to focus on the importance of hobbies, specifically creative expression, in college. We learned the fundamentals of documentary filmmaking, like interviewing, cinematography, sound and lighting setup, and editing. I was both crew and cast for this documentary, and I was interviewed about playing guitar. I filmed every shot I was not physically in. I got to learn valuable cinematography skills like movement and composition while creating a cohesive story. I was also an assistant editor, helping out with the majority of color grading. In the end, our mini-documentary went on to win "Best Director" in Georgia Tech's film festival.
